FFXI did in around a year what it took EQ four years to do

That is a pow indeed. I quit EQ to come to FFXI. I just got bored of EQ, same stuff, over and over and over again. FFXI is a bit different refreshing and new.

Hey, they tapped into the japanese. That's a piece of cake when you have America AND japan working with ya.

Grammar is your enemy! - While being able to understand someone's sentences might seem like a good idea for a proper essay, complaining on a forum scarcely leaves time for such trivialities. Write fast! You're angry, grrr! Make that show, and forget about things like capital letters, punctuation, and verbs.

Everquest has a decent sized japanese subscriber base too.

Alot of MMOs do. FFXI is just flip flopped. Instead of large american/small foreign, its large foreign/small american.

This says that last year the Japanese had over 250,000 FFXI subscribers. There's probably even more Japanese subscribers today. The North American numbers are quite good, but not terribly impressive (considering they're probably going to be around 200-250,000).

Besides, if you take a look at the Korean MMORPGs, they get even more than that. Lineage II had 130,000 subscribers in five days after release. Ragnarok Online had 600,000 subscribers in Thailand alone. The Azns are crazy.
