Not the other way around. I need PC to TV.

Since I've got Windows 7 I've been exploring Media Center and it's perfect for watching TV on my computer. But if I could stream it to the TV behind me too, that would be awesome. I know you can do it with the xbox, but my xbox uses the PC monitor too since it's much larger than my TV. The TV currently only has normal terrestrial channels.

Most of the modern big screen TVs have a VGA input in the back.

If you don't need 3d acceleration, you can always pick up a tuner card on the cheap.

I haven't had a monitor on my main machine for years. I just use my TV (56"). Works great for netflix, hulu, amazon unbox, youtube, and the like.

Perhaps I should've been more descriptive. My TV is in the same room as my PC but on the opposite side of the room. A VGA cable is not an option.

PC -> Big Empty Space -> TV

I think VGA cables retain sufficient signal strength even at like 50 feet. That'll be the cheapest solution you'll find

Sooo.. currently I have a GeForce 8800 and it has two DVI ports on the back. The best option would be routing a long VGA (with a simple DVI->VGA adapter) under my carpet to the TV? I'd also need some jack splitters so I could route phono's from my sound card to the TV's speakers.

While that sounds feasible and certainly doable on a budget, I'm suprised no one has made media extender wifi points. Like access points but with a media output. Like a mini xbox without the gaming part.

They do, but you're looking at $150-$200 Granted that is just the first one i found, but they do make them, just expect them to be pricey.

Bleh. Either very simple and annoying or complex (I hate extra drivers) and expensive.

Time to rip up my carpet and get some insanely long cables.

Consequently, the xbox Media center Extension does not work in any way that I've found with win 7, only XPMCE and Vista.

If your not that OCD about it, just get some like 3m command cable minders and run it along the wall or ceiling, rather than mess with the carpeting...
