I've recently picked up something I enjoy. Flying Dog's "Double Dog" A double-pale ale. It's hoppy, and pretty damn strong as far as the beers I've had go, unfortunately that wouldn't be very many. This has produced an interest in me for trying other craft beers, but I don't want to drink blindly! I know you like most Sam Adam brews, but I cannot recall what other beers you've suggested.

Since I'm fucking twenty sheets to the wind right now or whatever the fuck that expression is, I'll recommend only one for this Labor Day weekend:

Samuel Smith's Pure-Brewed Lager.

It's a British beer, and it's expensive, but oh, is it fucking delicious. But the 550ml bottles; it goes down super easy and smooth, so you'll be wanting to drink a lot of it.

Actually, let me recommend another.

Penn Weizen, from the Penn Brewery in Pittsburgh. Maradon can back me up on this one; this is probably the best hefeweizen being made in the U.S. today. If you can find it, it's a terrific example of what American craft brewers are capable of when they put their minds to it.

Fuck, I'm hammered. God. Fuck. Fuck!

Guinness isn't bad, I agree.

There's a shortage of Guinness in Vancouver, the two liquor stores nearest my apartment say they haven't had any new ones in weeks.

I live in the suburbs of Portland - how do you fellows enjoy Widmer beers?

Honestly, they ain't bad. The Widmer hefeweizen is kinda meh, but I'm really, really picky when it comes to that particular style of beer. They do a good job for most of their brews, though.

I'm not too picky when it comes to Hefeweizen, haven't had a really bad one of those yet.
