Weak middle segment (island natives, Sparrow-king) and weak ending, otherwise solid as hell. B+ would watch again.

Fucking awesome fight scenes.

Yeah, I questioned that, as well, but it was humorous enough to let it slide.

Loved the three-way fight. Like that they broke up Elizabeth and Will. I want to see Will go his own way. They're certainly setting it up. Nice to see all the characters back. Nice to see a named character appear (if you want to know who, look at imdb), nice to see Davy Jones. And I was quite pleased with the Kraken.

It was all I hoped for and much more. Sets things up QUITE nicely for the sequel.

I was quite pleased with it. The character development was solid. I like the temptation of Elizabeth one way and Jack the other way. Will is being set up nicely to make a fine pirate captain. Notice how everyone didn't even question him during the Kraken sequence.

I liked the ending, didn't find it weak at all. For any who enjoy musicals or opera, it's VERY reognizable as the end of the middle (or in the case of some musicals, the first) Act and has accomplished setting things up for the finale. Personally, it makes me think of "One Day More" from Les Miserables, as all the players have been put into their places and we only remain to see the drama play out.

I love whoever wrote this for their fantastic knowledge of pirate mythos. As a lifelong fan of all things pirate, it's very nice to see someone get the mythos and the lore so accurate.

I'm looking forward to the third. There are many questions I hope the third answers, although I don't worry too much about that as the story has been excellently told thus far.

I think what everyone was referring to by a weak ending was the resurrection of Barbossa, since we clearly saw him die. I was willing to accept it, though. I was more than a little baffled on Jack's decision to A) remain silent throughout the rising of the Kraken at the end and B) jumping straight into it. Clearly, he knows something we don't, but it's still out of character for him to go into the Kraken's maw.

That did leave me my favorite quote of that movie, though.

You are looking at one part of his character, his self prservation, and ignoring another, that he is a captain in the truest form. If Jack Sparrow refused to go down with his ship what kind of captain would he be? If you use that rationel the motivation is more clear.

Considering Jack the Monkey was still undead throughout this movie, there's probably a chance that Barbossa might still be cursed in some way as well. We never know exactly what he did during those 10 years as captain of the Pearl, other than searching for the coins.

NO MORE SPOILERS! READ LOWER AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I have no real issue with the idea that if you don't see a body, you can't count them as dead. I'm fairly certain we saw Barbossa be blown away and fall dead at the end of the last movie, though.

I guess I was a little put-off by the idea of Jack going "It's only a ship," and then having, if you're correct, the guts to go down with the Pearl. Blimey.

What I'm aching for is more Davey Jones. I loved the look on his face when Jack went off about Will being in love.

Jack also has the whole inner conflict of being a pirate, and thus a dishonorable person, and being a hero who always ends up doing the right thing. Dramatic shifts in his character should not be held suspect but should be expected.

I have to say, I like the character of Davey Jones quite a bit. The combined efforts of the actor and the CG make the character of Jones so much more than what I'd expected, the emotions come through quite well IMO.

I hope we don't have to wait too long for the final installment of the series.

Davey Jones was surprisingly awesome. I was actually surprised by the quality of the movie in general. I wasn't expecting much but I got a lot.

Anyway, I figured Jack rushed the kraken because he had no chance of escaping it anyway (I mean, really), so he might as well give it a shot. He never acts without a good reason, though, so he probably knows something we don't. And obviously he survives because there's a third movie. Unless they get all Chrono Trigger on us.

Man, I want part 3 to come out like next week now That movie rocked. The special effects for Davy Jones and his ship were just amazing, hard to tell where the actor ends and the special effects began.

I figured Will's plan with the big sack of explosives was to wait for the Kraken to split the ship and opens it's maw at the center point, like it did on the ship the Kraken attacked earlier with Will on it, at which point they drop the net down into it's maw and blow it up. Guess not
