Ok so I stumbled upon a stockpile of MTG cards I've owned for a while, all of which are pretty old. I think I can pick out which ones are Unlimited and Revised, but I'm havin a real hard time deciding which ones are Alpha and which are Beta. I plan on putting them on ebay, so if anyone can help me I would be appreciative. Are the differences very obvious? Anything would help.

Alpha - Black border, rounded corners
Beta - Black border, not square but close to it corners

That is the only difference if I remember correctly.

Hmm ok. Well if that's true then I have a mix of them (crap) because I'm pretty sure Alpha was missing some stuff (like COP: Black) which ARE in the collection. More sorting... *sigh* I have some nice stuff though. I'm pretty sure the Fastbond, Fork, Wheel of Forune, Hypnotic Spectres, and a binch of others that I have are worth quite a lot, even in the Good-Excellent (I don't think any are Mint or Near Mint)conditions they are in. If I posted the list of black cards I have do you think you could help me put a minimum bid on them? I would only need help with one color. That would be completely badass and I would look up to you in the same way that Bloom looked up to Depp in that pirate movie (Depp was so much better, even though the rest of the film wasn't my style at all.)

All the ones you listed are worth quite a bit of money (Fastbond not so much). Everyone can use Alpha Hyppies

Go to a local board game/card game store, or magazine store, and pick up a copy of Scrye Magazine. They put out a price list every month with as up to date going prices as they can.

Obviously some prices are going to flux alot, but stuff from before 6th is pretty well set in stone. Type 2 stuff will flux alot, like in the latest copy, Umezua's Jite(spelling is off I'm sure) is worth $5, but they've been going for as much as $20.

That will help you alot in finding prices. You could also look up some sites that sell single cards to price yours similarly. AnyCraze is one of my favorites for buying singles from, and their prices are close to the current going rate for the most part.

Typically you won't get anything if you ask for scrye price. Most people on Ebay sell their dual lands on Ebay for about 5-10 dollars a piece. If you really want to sell them on ebay, be prepared to sell them at 1/4 book price. I would just try to sell them to a friend, would be a lot easier.

Thanks for the help. I would sell them to a friend or at least a collector or something that I know, but I can't find anyone to take them. The only place that might is Game HQ down in the city, but they only take really good ones (Wheel of Fortune, etc). Ebay was sort of my last resort. A lot of them aren't in the best condition also, but for the most part the pretty expensive ones are, so I'll just see what happens.
