I'm going to say this before I write the review. Anybody that liked the first GBA Fire Emblem is going to want to go buy this one. It takes everything about FE and made it better (for the most part).

I don't feel like explaining the storyline, so I'll just give a quick synopsis. Main characters = prince and princess who are twin heirs to the throne of a country. All countries are peacefully co-existing until the big one invades the country of the main characters. Twins' father dies and war begins. So far, the story is really neat. No better than the original FE, but still a good plot.

Ok, graphics are almost exactly the same as the old stuff except they made a few moves crisper (wyvern knights I noticed have a small difference in the attack). It's just basically a cleaned up version of FE's graphics. Music is the same way. Just as good as FE's.

Now here's where the better, neat stuff comes in. There's 3 main things that I love about the new game.

1) There is now a world map that you are on between missions. This is AWESOME. On the world map you can go to bases that you have beaten before and go to shops and armories without having to waste turns and characters on special trips.

2) There are new "recruit" classes as I will call them. These are lowman classes that level faster than normally because they're too weak to do much of anything except get an attack in every once and a while. Once they hit level 10, they have the option of changing to one of two classes. Journeymen change to Fighters or Pirates, Recruits change to Knights or Cavaliers, and Pupils I haven't worked with yet, but assuming Mages or Clerics. This is neat because it allows you to work a characters stats up from level 1 on the recruit form, up to 20 on the main form, and then up to 20 again on the promoted form. This makes for potentially amazing characters. Normally, this would be practically impossible, but that brings me to point 3.

3) On the world map, there are towers and enemy encounters that you can go to. These are purely for exp gaining purposes and you can go to them as much as you feel is necessary. This is AWESOME. You don't have to worry as much about wasting your good characters exp on making almost un-levelable characters like Nino up just so that they don't die in one hit. This might sound broken, but you can't use the towers too much or you'll lose all of your money repairing equipment. Still, this is easily my favorite addition to the Fire Emblem world.

Other awesome things include the fact that your Lord also doubles as a Merchant/Convoy and you can access the Supply menu just by trading with her. Also, each of the promotion items gives a class two choices of what they want their 2nd form to be. Examples include Thieves becomeing Rogues or Assassins and Pegasus Knights becoming Wyvern Knights or Falcoknights. It's really neat for when you have two characters you really like, but are the same class. If you don't want two of any class on your team, just promote them to different classes.

All in all, there are just too many enhancements to the first GBA Fire Embelm not to enjoy it. Don't buy it from EB or Gamestop though. They're charging 35 dollars when you can get it at K-Mart or Target for 30 bucks and at Fry's for less.

I love the world map idea. I loved the previous Fire Emblem. I want this game bad.

I want to get all the support conversations for the first one still, but if I wait on that I may never get the second one...

Shit, one more reason I need a job.

That's so boring.

If you wanna read more about the character's relationships, just read a Support Conversation FAQ.

I get a petty sense of personal accomplishment over inane, unrecognized video game accomplishments.
It's like a fetish or something.

So...does the new game have support convos?

I know how you feel about the inane game accomplishments.

I got all the medals in Dragon Warrior 3 for GBC.

And yes, it has support convos.

You'd hate the relationship development in Tales of Symphonia, then. In that game, you have to work hard to make the main girl not love you.

I'm workin on that one right now actually. The voice actor for Lloyd kind of annoys me sometimes, and so does Kratos. The storyline kind of reminds me of FFIX, but I mean it IS a sterotypical Japanese fantasy RPG, so what can you expect, really.
But I do admittedly love the tales series, so I'm kind of ashamed it took me this long to buy it. Used graduation money

I just want to stab Kratos. Seriously. I hate his character so much.
I'm totally freaking in love with Zelos, and Sheena, and ZelosxSheena, though

Someone told me the person who does Lloyd's voice also does Robin in Teen Titans. I never watch TV, so I wouldn't know.

It's true. In fact, pretty much all of the VAs in Tales of Symphonia are well-known, except for Collette's. There are VA's who've done such works as Slayers, Final Fantasy X/X-2, and, as was mentioned, Teen Titans, to name a few.

I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl, we ate lobster, drank piña coladas. At sunset, we made love like sea otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I get that day over, and over?

Really? Cool. Zelos' voice is so great, I should look up whoever the actor is and see what else he's done.
I was so proud of myself when I realized how similar Nightmare and Link's voices were (in Japanese) then found out that Nightmare, Link, and Yoshimitsu are all voiced by the same actor. Now that there's some talent XD
Tamashio!

Later: OMG, the woman who did Sheena's voice also played Rogue in X2, as well as a bunch of other stuff. Wow, suddenly I really want to be a voice actor (again). And, for some reason, a lot of the actors also had parts voicing for EQII. It's a small, small world...

The voice for Presea is Raven from Teen Titans...and Bubbles...and Timmy...

This article I'm reading about it is funny. "Scott Menville, however, isn’t even trying to disguise the fact that he’s also voicing Robin in Teen Titans."

Anyway, I'm really intrigued by this now. Pardon me while something random takes my fancy...

Finally: Goddamnit, I can't find Zelos' English voice actor anywhere TT_TT So sad...
