A little like if Homeworld and a space sim were blended, letting you take control of a fighter or capital ship whenever you wanted.
Hey.. that isn't such a bad idea..
Tori the Berserker rides again! bwahaha

There are two major types of players in the game: Commanders who view the game in a WC3-ish overhead view and build structures/give other units commands/etc.
And there are the Grunts. They are the other players who can follow the commands of the Commander. They view the game in a FPS style, attacking enemies with weapons, etc.

I was thinking exactly the same thing this morning.

Damn, my frame rates suck in this game.
ATI card? Go to options and click on "extra optimizations". It supposedly gives ATI cards a large performance boost. It'd be on automatically, but its not fully supported yet and crashes some older cards/drivers.
Oh and Mort, you basically want the non-suck version of BC3kAD eh?

Crap, you can try that anyway but I'm not totally sure what the problem is personally. You can post on S2's forum about it though, the devs (all 6 of them) are quite good about responding to stuff.

Like Natural Selection, you say?
That would be a bad thing.
I'll try it anyway...

Never utter that game again, on penalty of death.
I can't believe I bought it. The box was pretty. [ 10-10-2003: Message edited by: Mortious ]

Rebellion got too caught up in all the micro-management of running the Empire or Rebellion.

I tried it and it helped about seven metric tons.

That was one of the only Star Wars games that I have not liked. =\
Granted, you don't hear 13 year old peices of shit who's balls haven't dropped, but some serious strategy could be easily put in with voice comm.
Typing "I'm going for this, this, then x" is nice and all, but I tend to find as a commander in NS that people listen to you if you swear, bitch and yell at your marines.
Otherwise, it's pretty good. Different strategies (Go out and secure stonemines fast, then level up your people, or kill NPCs while workers build, then rush them with superior numbers/weapons/armor, etc.) play well into it, and it's certainly nicer looking then NS at any rate.

I'm getting pretty good with the legionarre. Melee in this game works a lot like it did in Rune, the demo of which I played obsessivly.

I've been waiting for them to make an Ender's Game game forever.

Ah c'mon, its exactly what you wanted... technically. Well, except for the fact that it sucked. Minor detail though right?
Delphi, apparently they couldn't get voice comm softwares working with the game or they couldn't afford it. They're considering writing their own, like Valve did, if they sell enough copies. From what I've played, enough people seem to listen though.

Yeah, mostly because it doesnt have all the HL script fuckwads downloading it and thinking it's a DM server or something.
Still, once some disposable income comes my way, I'll have to get the full version..
I guess Disgaea will have to wait.

First and foremost, you must make sure your motherboard drivers are current. Not doing this may cause your fast AGP graphics card to run in slow PCI mode, even though you might have it plugged perfectly well into an AGP slot. This is impacting your framerate in all games, although games that have to send a lot of polygons per frame to your video card (such as Savage) will be most noticeably affected.
Here is how you can identify what motherboard AGP chipset you have, and where to get updated drivers for your motherboard:
For Windows XP:
Click the Start button -> click Control Panel -> double-click the System applet -> select the Hardware tab -> click the Device Manager button -> expand the 'System devices' listing. For Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition (SE), and Windows Me:
Click the Start button -> click Settings -> click Control Panel -> double-click the System applet -> select the Device Manager tab -> expand the 'System devices' listing. For Windows 2000:
Click the Start button -> click Settings -> click Control Panel -> double-click the System applet -> select the Hardware tab -> click the Device Manager button -> -> expand the 'System devices' listing.Look for the string "<something> processor to AGP controller"
Generally it will be AMD-<number>, Intel(R) <number>, NVidia <number>, VIA <number>, ALI <number>, or SIS
If you have AMD:

If you get a bad Commander, you're fucked, and there is little to nothing you can do about it.
Excerpt:
Leo: "We need siege weapons."
Batshit Commander: "no we dont"
L: "We *need* siege weapons."
BC: "shut up"
L: "Alright, allow me to rephrase: THE ENEMY FORCE IS BUILDING GUARD TOWERS OUTSIDE OF OUR BASE, AND ARE SHELLING US SENSELESS WITH MORTARS. YOU HAVE NOT RESEARCHED OUR BIG WEAPONS, SO WE CANNOT STOP THIS. IF YOU DO NOT RESEARCH SIEGE WEAPONS, WE WILL *DIE*. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?"
BC: "wats research"
That, combined with the lack of a single-player mode, gave it Leopold's kiss of death. Which is sad, because I really do like the game itself.
But I'd rather just download NS again than shell out money.

You can take over Commander at any poiny, depedning on how the server is setup. I can just walk up to the base, enter it, and take over research and production. So if someone's not doing the job, just take it from them.
