I'd agree with Chalesm if I were able to actually make any use of a staff, as they are just...cool. But a flail is much easier to pick up, IMO
For general fun in games use, however, I prefer magic .

For a gun... hell, I don't know... I like the stopping power of a simple .357, but I get the feeling that I would enjoy trying out a sniper rifle as well. A pity I don't know all that much about guns, or I'd list specific types...
I don't have a specific answer, but it definately would be a pistol.

This is kinda a tough one...
I'm tempted to say rapiers and the like, simply because that's the only weapon I've really used...
But... I'm kinda partial towards long, large daggers (not short swords)...
Heavy ones, especially, I like the weight.
I'm not too into guns, but for any sort of guns, rifles in general are my favorite type. The Single shot kinda things...
It just seems like it has so much finesse, one simply, clear, powerful, long range shot. Not the multiple weaker shots of a pistol, or the haphazardness of anything automatic. Just one bullet. [ 06-25-2003: Message edited by: Lashanna ]
Guns: Have only really used regular rifles and shotguns...would actually have to try more before learning which one really suited me, but in games I prefer machine guns.
Not too favorable of real guns though.

For melee, at one time I might have said something like a big ol' two-handed sword, but looking at it, two handers are something only a fully armored person can afford to use, not to mention the severe lack of martial training on my part. For melee weapons, I agree with Chalesm, both for the reasons he stated and for different reasons. I can't use most two-handed weapons well, because my arms don't coordinate well with both hands gripping near each other. On a quarterstaff, however, your hands are spread apart, and can shift to accommodate your needs. The whole staff is a handle. Some day I'd like to learn to use a quarterstaff. (A friend of mine has a 20 lb bar that's 5 ft long. I want to get something similar for practice, as learning to control that would help me get back in shape.)
When it comes to conventional range weapons, you just can't beat a good sniper rifle. Take your time, focus on the target, adapt to his or her movements. Then when you've finally locked it down, take a deep breath, hold it, and fire. Weapons like that take concentration, and the ability to think ahead. Plus you have to be okay with not breathing. Suits me perfectly.

Actually a Saber or shortsword would be my fav. Sure a gun is safer, but it lacks a vertain finesse.

Actually, I'd probably use some sort of shotgun, as there's a lot to be said for the intimidation factor.
Though if we're referring to weapons we can't feasibly get... I would really like some sort of lunar Mass Driver, or my own orbital laser platform.
