Hey guys! Ever notice how Dante from Devil May Cry is like a copy of Arucard from Hellsing? Thing about it, they both have strange heritages, Dante a half Demon and Arucard a Vampire and a Dante wears red cool clothes so does Arucard. Arucard has two awesome pistols, so does Dante. Alexander has swords and so does Dante. It seems to me that Dante has more in common with Hellsing than coincidence. Reply if you come up with any other coincidences. P.S. Hellsing rocks. so does DMC. I just saw Hellsing at my friends for the first time last weekend.

You smell that? Do you smell that? ...Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory.

In Hellsing, he IS Alucard as well, its just that the Japanese can't say the L in his name. At the last scene of the last episode, a portion of Vlad the Impaler's(the original Dracula) face appears in place of Alucard's

Bah, it was an unecessary confirmation, I read the previous statement that he couldn't stand English dubs, and I immediately entered the fact that I had the subtitled editions, but I also unconsciously felt I needed to add in the fact that they were fansubs, not subtitled tapes, or bilingual dvds, as a further clarification. I now realize that it was a redundant statement, and it was unintentional. Also, why am I on your ignore list? To the best of my knowledge, yesterday I was not.

Well, there is a reason for that.

The text is more directly a translation of the original script. Whereas, when dubbing it in another language, it MUST be changed to accomodate voice acting and current language trends.

Generally because direct translations don't make much sense when said out loud.

I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl, we ate lobster, drank piña coladas. At sunset, we made love like sea otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I get that day over, and over?

Also, dubbed nowadays is made to try to sync with the characters lips.

So the translators have to stretch a sentence, or make it smaller.

Vlad the Impaler is not Dracula that we know and love as the vampire. That's a common missconception. Brahm Stoker ran across his name in a book and ignored it until he came across one of the many names he was known to by a local tribe, Voivode Dracula. Dracula meant "Devil" in their language, so Brahm Stoker took the name for his book. There is no link between Vlad the Impaler and Count Dracula, the Vampire who was created by Brahm Stoker beside the name. Everything else linking the two has been made up in the centuries since the book was written. The character Dracula was a completely original creation and not modeled after any person, real or otherwise. His name wasn't even originally Count Dracula. It was originally Count Wampyr. I know this isn't spoiler material, but I didn't want to unspoil his spoiler.
