I'll give my own answer in a little while.

PS2
seconded by Atari.
The SNES was one of the consoles I really grew up on. I had a NES, but I never really got into gaming until the SNES. There were so many games for the SNES that kicked 100 per cent absolute ass. Many are their own epic legend.
Super Mario World was really cool. I think it's probably the best Mario. Super Mario Kart was also a lot of fun. I spent quite a bit of time in front of these two games alone. Then there's all the other classics. I liked Pilot Wings quite a bit, even though it was certainly difficult in some areas. Zelda: A Link to the Past is probably the best Zelda title ever.
I feel that the Final Fantasy series saw its apex on the SNES. "Final Fantasy II" (American) was my first real Final Fantasy (I think I owned FFMQ before it, but that doesn't quite count). It drew me into the series quite a bit, really. I can't even describe it.
Then there's the SNES games that were really innovative for their time. Mario Paint has so much going on that it was fun to sit in front of it for hours. Super Scope 6 was a novel idea, even if it never took off.
Sim Ant and Sim City were both enjoyable in their own way on the Super Nintendo. Lots of time invested in those two, too.
Holy shit, the list goes on. There's the games I never owned but played like Earthbound.
If I went into any strong detail about how any of these games really kicked ass, I'd have an essay on my hands, so I tried to keep it short.
Again, my bias is probably because it was the first real gaming system I got into, but damn, the SNES was so awesome.
Plays original PS games, PS2 game and DVD's.
The graphics are good, and the FMVs are just holy.I know that the GameCube graphics pizown ps2 but ohwell
I got into heavy gaming after I got my Playstation. And the PS2 is just like the more adult PlayStation.
I like sony, I trust sony.
PlayStation has built a good reputation for games and manages to keep it.
I am poor and it is all I can afford
And finally...Kingdom Hearts + Soul Reaver 2 + Blood Omen 2 + DMC =
Wow, I can't believe I forgot Lemmings and StarFox. Those were also kickass games.
Street Fighter II

I feel like games have mostly lost the story and fun gameplay they had since the SNES. There are certainly a few that hold a strong plot (Xenogears comes to mind), but most do rely at least some on eye candy to get away with a weaker game.
And speaking in terms of Final Fantasy, I know saying this is going to piss off a lot of people, but FFVII was the beginning of the downfall. It isn't really part of the same caste that earlier FFs were made in. It only got worse from there. FFVIII was even further off from the original series. The plot and system were nothing like what was in earlier Final Fantasy games. I feel like the switch to Sony had a very profound impact on the FF series. Why GameCube? Because. :P~
I guess that's kinda implied, though, because none of you have a time machine.
1. Super Smash TV. The game which restored my faith in it - it said "Slowdown goes away if you program it right."
2. Contra III. Nuff said.
3. The original SF2 for SNES. It was. It is. It will always be.
4. Final Fantasy III. It is the Alpha and the Omega of RPG's.
5. Mortal Kombat II. I don't think there was a more perfect arcade translastion besides those listed above.
6. The Super Game Boy. Best $40 I ever spent on my Game Boy.
7. Donkey Kong Country. It began there. Now pick your damned jaw up.

Bahamut Lagoon.
Awesome then, still awesome now. The battle animations were so... smooth. The dragons were very nicely well done, and the scenery was beautiful. Shame it was the last game Square did for the SNES.
I play violent video games, I could snap at any moment.. rar
Dor Multiplayer goodness, nothing beats GCN.
For FPSes, I like the 64.
For all out pwnage, SNES takes the cake.
I remember playing Zombies Ate My Neighbors and FF3 for days on end. Chrono Trigger too, but I could never get all the endings...
Too bad they're import only and cost an arm and a leg... [ 11-15-2002: Message edited by: Skaw ]

Yeah, but now I think they are related.

Eww, so all the fucking they have been doing is incest!
PS2 has lots of games that rank 7 of 10 on the fun meter. Stuff like Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Gauntlet: Dark Legacy, Devil May Cry, et cetera.
XBox has HALO. This game goes way the hell off the fun scale, even if the controls are a bitch to learn. Fun fun fun! Plus, Fusion Frenzy kicks ass with a group of 4 players.
