Yes. I hate Elvis. I hate his slurred singing, his screechy voice, and his gyrations that are labeled dancing.
I hate the fact that there is an 'Elvis Week' on A&E.
I hate how people will not accept that he is dead. Rotted away. Gone. Kaput.
I hate Elvis impersonators. They are lame with a capitol L.
I hate the way you get those weirdo Elvis-is-not-dead people weeping as they pay hundreds or thousands just to visit his grave. Dude, the guy has been dead for many, many years. I know that I would be weirded out if people toured my brother/son/husband/cousin/friend's grave once a year on his birthday. Ooo, you know what? If Elvis rises and sees his shadow, then we get another 30 years of bad music! Just like what we are suffering through now with boy bands and Britney Spears.
[/flame off]
That felt good.

That's why he made millions upon millions.

I wonder how many people look upon The Beatles as ancient pop trash.
I hate the Beatles too.
Dont even get me STARTED on them..

*shrug*
I have the one album. I like it.
I just hate a lot of artists. And Elvis made me mad today.
People in Oklahoma refuse to believe that some members of them are dead (As if I know their names..)
And anyone who sings about yellow submarines is pretty dumb, in my book.

Heeeeeeeey now, that's my favorite shower song.

and i'm not talking Britney Spears and Boy Bands, those groups followed the "Elvis Style" of music.
the "Beatles Style" of music has influenced bands like 311, Incubus, Green Day, No Doubt, and shitloads of others.
Years ago, people couldn't sing, didnt write their own stuff...and all around sucked. Such is the way it is with bands now.
However...
I still don't have to bloody like them. I don't see ANYWHERE in the contract that I have to.
I think music evolves. From things I do not like comes things I do like, and possibly things I will like better in the future.
So there.
I just hate the Beatles.
I kinda agree with Eisuye. Here's and analogy:
I cant stand Picasso's artwork, but I do admit that it has influenced a lot of artists whose artwork I do enjoy.

no. no, sorry, I could accept this thread until I read this. You may not like him but comparing him to Britney Spears is just... ignorant.

Reynar had this to say about Jimmy Carter:
Nothing has changed in music in 35+ years.Years ago, people couldn't sing, didnt write their own stuff...and all around sucked. Such is the way it is with bands now.
Yeah except then those bands didn't last long. Now they're multi-album multi-millionaires.
I hate Elvis impersonators and freaks that live off his hard work.
If you can't see what Elvis and the Beatles did for music, then you are closeminded. As far as hating Elvis? Or hating the Beatles? Whatever.
I still love them.
I don't like the sound of his voice; I find it rather annoying. I don't like the style of music he did, which is, honestly, too dated for me to find interesting.
I don't ram my love for The Tea Party down people's throats...
Oh, and as for impersonators: Yeah, people who's lives are spent imitating, imperfectly, someone else's. Yes. We all respect you.
I happened to be alive during his life, and during the Beatles time... so I feel differently. I have no idea who "the Tea Party" is... so I have no opinion of them.
Actually, I dont mind listening to his Christmas hymns and whatnot, if I am in the right mood. His other stuff, I cannot stand. I cant understand what he says, and I live by the rule that if you are going to say or sing or something to me, do it in a way that I can understand you. One reason I cant stand rap and I dislike ethnic music. I cant understand what they are saying (I listen to music for the message, not the beat).
I have also been exposed to a lot of oldies. Back when I lived in Soudi, it was about the only American music you could find there. I grew up to oldies and old-school country. I love em both. Like some modern bands, there are some I love, and some I loathe. Its the same with oldies. I supremely dislike the Beatles, but I adore the Rightious Brothers, Bobby Vee, Chris DeBurgh, and the Tokens.
And eh. I don't like Jimi Hendrix, either . I'm odd in my tastes.
The Beatles, however, rock. Music may have evolved but the feelings of music have not. Or somthing.

Empress Eisuye had this to say about John Romero:
YES, I acknowledge the fact that people like The Beatles and Elvis arfe huge influences on modern music. Hell, my favorite band is hugely, hugely influenced by The Doors, which I do not like.However...

Dig up that rant from your LiveJournal.
Like, now.
