In case you can't read it due to the size of the pic, this is the cover for the first published collection of PvP Online strips.
You have to wonder, how are you supposed to feel when you look at this? It's like driving past a horrible road accident involving a bus full of Klansmen, a fuel truck and a small puppy that wandered onto the road and the puppy gets the worst of it.
The kind of hate that burns with an undying fervor.
You know.. like, when your mother in law sets a bear trap off on your testes, and you cant shoot her because your wife would pout, and you wouldnt get any after your balls healed, THAT kind of hate.

...Holy shit, dude.

Which makes it visually confusing and not very interesting at all.
Sorta like the comic itself
One: that picture looks horrible. The strips look like they're printed on cardboard and just lobbed haphazardly; very little/no actual dimension to it. Hair looks like it's posessed.
Two: What the FUCK...?!

Kegwen 2.0 attempted to be funny by writing:
Straight. Boring.
Pretty much.
just bad.
I really hate how there is just one shadow in the entire picture.

Not only that, the comic is a sell out =P
In what way?
hen go ask Spy.com why the ditched his comics...
And what does a Martha Stewart web site have to do with web comics? [ 08-03-2002: Message edited by: JooJooFlop ]
My biggest gripe with the guy is that he took a shot at other artists. Said something really inappropriate, based on the fact that he himself is out to make money doing his strip.
Keep in mind there's nothing wrong with that. Quite a few people who we all loved the work of made money by doing comics. And some of them were elitist bastards too. Calvin and Hobbes' Watterson was an elitist "artiste" snob, for instance.
But at least he didn't take shots at fellow strip writers all that often, and even then didn't call them posers or deluded or anything. Plus there's the quality of his work. When you're good at something, there's a certain right you have to be snobbish. Calvin & Hobbes was a great strip. I would read it every day. PvP? Eh...I go through months where I don't read it.
I'd rather go buy some Fox Trot comics, to be honest.

Whenever I think about people that might actually follow his comic
He Who Shall Not Be Named (except by the initials SK) has been on my shit list for over a year. He has a real crappy attitude towards the people who do/did support him, and he treats the people who maintain/moderate and visit his forums like crap.
He's an elitist snob and I wouldn't go five minutes out of my way to meet him.
... Shading if your friend. O.o

Depends on what your going for. Sometimes shading is inappropriate. Often times it's over used. Other times it's under used.
In this cas it was underused becuase of the effect he was trying to pull off.

It's a shame the geniuses that are John Kovalic and Aaron Williams had to join with him in a printing press
and it makes me laugh and giggle
she looks like shit muh liek the rest of the archives of that stupid comic

Elvish Crack Piper painfully thought these words up:
Possibly because foxtrot tends to be witty and amusing 80+% of the time easily, while PvP might be giggle worthy once a week?
Precisely.

Oh, and I think that's really a guy in that picture. Mick Jagger to be exact (note lips).

But that picture just looks odd.

That's pretty much how I feel. I mean, is it supposed to be sexy? Funny? I dunno.

Agreed. Personally, I never really liked Kurtz's style of drawing - save for when he first started. It always struck me as, well, almost arrogant. Bold lines, cut & paste, lack of charm. I don't know. It's as if he HAS to make his art "perfect", but in the end, the opposite occurs. Like in this picture. Is it meant to be enticing? Perhaps. Part of me says his style of art just isn't meant for this work - but the other, more logical side states he's trying too hard to fish for money. Back in the first year or two when he first drew PvP, I enjoyed it. It was different, refreshing, dare I say... humorous? But now the same jokes are replayed, save for the fact they deal with newer games. The art has lost its lovable quality.
January 11th, 1999. You can easily spot mistakes in his art - the chair Cole (I think that's his name, been awhile) sits in extends a little past the panel. Cole's long strand of hair's root shifts positions in every panel. The linework is uneven. But this produces a certain quality. All art has its mistakes, but that's what adds on to the appeal.
What can I say? I suppose this sort of art pleases some folk. It's bold. It demands for attention. But if you look closely, especially at the girl named Sonya, you notice similar forms. Well, okay, the characters ARE going to stick with similar forms. Not like they're shifting body shapes every single panel. But it's more of a copy-paste fashion. It loses its certain charm. A charm that declares on its soapbox, "I do proclaim that quality is indeed over quantity. I wish to add personality to my inkings; attitude to my characters. I wish to care for my fans."
Geez. I must be tired or something. X_X I don't know if any of this made sense. [ 08-04-2002: Message edited by: Adrecia Tru'Ril ] Call me confused if you will. ^_^
