Um, 65,000 or so Americans died in car accidents last year. It was over 1, 000, 000 worldwide.

There is no way the general public is capable of flight to replace cars. Maybe, when the entire process from takeoff to landing is automated, this would be a good idea.

Right now, not a chance.

If this is real...I'm never going to be stuck behind another grandmother going 10mph under the speed limit ever again, woo hoo!

Yeah really, wtf

A round trip to work would expend all of your gas

Well, going at 350+ mph would give horrible gas mileage to any vehicle Besides, going to work at 350+mph wouldn't use that much gas, unless you live in Oregon and work in San Diego

The aircar's been a work in progress for almost a decade. Saw an article on it in the mid-90's. It's a novelty. No-one's actually ever going to give up their real car for one.

Me too. All I can hope is that they impliment MUCH more strict regulations as to who can use it, than they do with Cars.

License exams every 2 years instead of 4 or 5, and a much tighter control against things such as driving while drunk/distracted...

No you wouldn't. People bitch about gas prices as is. Plus you'd no doubt have to pay out the ass for a civil piloting license that lets you fly everywhere a car can go, couldn't ever drive to the airport, you'd never slip a flying car of any sort past an insurance company and god help you if you needed maintenance or something. Ever see how much a McLaren street-modified race car costs to keep maintained? Congratulations you'll be paying even more...need I go on? Okay. I guarantee you'd have to get some sort of piloting license because I imagine Sage will back me up on the notion that flying any sort of vehicle ain't like playing a flight simulator.

Maybe if you were a billionaire pilot you could get away with it and not feel a pinch, and maybe if everyone else were doing it and there was a way to keep it all safe, sure.

Otherwise, it's a matter of "spirit willing, body unable"

In my opinion, this is not meant to replace cars. ever. It is more a status thing. a way to say "haha mine is bigger than yours, I own a flying car!" but we all knew that already, didn't we?
