Asimov often wondered what we'd have to do to our planet eventually. His detective and foundation series, while all intermingling, center around earth.. boxed in entirely.
The psycology behind it is really quite facinating. Imagine living INSIDE your entire life. Never going out (Ha ha, no. I mean for real.) to play in the sun, always knowing there is SOME sort of structure that is man made, over your head. Always.
Mass agoraphobia.

Kinda weird to think about....Although Coroscaunt has some outdoor areas.
With as much traffic that I'm assuming Corusant is getting, in terms of supplies, equipment, fuel, etc., its quite possible that a central hub city like this is very feasable, especially when you factor in the fact that they have hundreds of other worlds to garner resources from.
A planet earth like this, without asteroid mining, etc., would fail quite quickly with a population as gigantic as Corusants. Simply not enough water. Nor food. Nor power.
it can make anything
Watching the shots of the city in Ep 2, especially in the speeder, was very impressive.

Well, considering it's the central core of the SW universe, I would assume they get EVERYTHING from elsewhere.Watching the shots of the city in Ep 2, especially in the speeder, was very impressive.
Stop taunting me.
Clean, free energy would be a must. But I'm assuming if they've mastered the ability to go into hyperspace, its not *much* of a problem. Cos without free, clean energy, you get that nasty smog.
I look forward to seeing the MASSIVE detail that ILM put into corusant.
CORUSCANT.
CORUSCANT.
"Coroscaunt" ? Wtfy? CORUSCANT.
But COROSCAUNT?
For some strange reason this thread makes me hungry for warm, flakey, pastries...
Pollution would be a problem, as would recirculating CO2 into air (no forests, remember?) but I guess you could have massive atmospheric scrubbers, but even then.
It'd take centuries to achieve and it would be for nothing more than a stunt, essentially.
Oh and for the record, Coruscant is the central government. It's not the center of the universe. The Imperial Control sector at the center of the Galactic hub is the the center of the Galaxy. It's where the Emperor had the clone tanks set up on Byss, etc.

That was cool.
What? No, this post had nothing to do with the thread.. why?

"Yeah..um...we're gonna be building us here the center of the galaxy...we're uh..gonna be making this whole planet a city, BUT, we'll give you 2 acres of your own condos in the south, ok?"
Natives- "wtf..."
"Intergalactic civil war?"
"GENTRIFICATION!"

The logic train ran off the tracks when Ja'Deth Issar Ka'bael said:
I always got the impression it was more Venus-sized than Earth-sized.
For the record, venus is about 95% the size of earth. Mars however, is about half the size of the earth.

Ja'Deth Issar Ka'bael had this to say about Tron:
I thought Venus (as in the hard planetoid) was much smaller and it was the swirling poisonous gases and acid clouds that made it bigger.
nope, venus dosent really have that thick a cloud layer (a few hundrid KM), the rock part of is 95% earth.
Intresting note, Mars's day is within half a hour of ours.
