So, when I bought the PS2, I said to myself "Self, there's no RPGS for the PS2!" I answered myself with, "Self... give it time, give it time."
I've had this damn thing for almost a year now and STILL NO DAMN RPGS.
If any of you try to tell me Dark Cloud is an RPG, I will hire goons to come to your house and kill you.
I WANT MY FINAL FANTASY AND THE CLONES THEREIN!
I had to buy Golden Sun for the Gameboy Advance so that I could have my pocket RPG to whip out whenever I felt the need for RPG.
I've been playing it for 30 minutes and I'm still in the opening story. TOO much talking. Blah!

Oh yes, I do. So I can have someone else to shoot.
Well, it's better when you're not playing by yourself.

I've been told that Devil May Cry is an amusing near-RPG experience. Plus you should have all your PS1 RPG's to hold you over for a bit till the next FF incarnation... They're going to a new platform, it takes them a bit (look at the time diff between FFIV and FFV vs FFVI and FFVII)

If I wanted to keep playing my PSOne RPGs, I didn't need to spend 300 bucks on a PS2, did I?
I want my damn RPGs. This is Square we're talking about. FF is their flagship. It should be priority to get a game out.

This is like saying that Solitare is M$'s flagship game because it's sold so well. It hasn't been 'updated' in years though. Priority my ass....
Besides.... I think I'd rather have another movie than another game that I most likely won't get around to playing. I still haven't played 8 or 9 yet. And I still haven't beaten 4j HardType yet.... the final boss is more of a bitch....

Solitaire? It's packaged with Windows. How do you see that as selling well?
Besides, I was reading a few press releases sometime last year where Square precisely stated that Final Fantasy was their gaming Flagship. If you disagree, take it up against them, not me. Hell, they made a movie from it, didn't they?

they are, they're working on FFX/XI/possibly XII, which will all be for the PS2 (or the PC (or mebbe some other system), because they said FF9 was the last one on the PSX)

Dude... your comparison of Solitaire to FF is... frightening.
FF owns. Square in general owns. If there's anything I've learned from Square and Blizzard -- if they take their time, the game is better.
Duh.
Look at StarCraft... now look at StarCraft a year prior to it's release. The screenshots looked like Warcraft ONE in space.

Solitare sold REAL well. How many copies of Windows 3.0 were sold? How about 3.1? 3.11? WfW? (Technically 3.11 and WfW ARE seperate versions) Win95? Win95 Mark 2? Win95 A - D? Win98? Win98 SE? WinME? That's not counting the numbers sold for NT 3.0 through NT 4.0 and Win2k/XP. Solitare has had ONE upgrade in all that time. They brought it from 16 bit to 32 bit somewhere along the way (I think it was somewhere in the A-D section of 95).
You would think their 'flagship game', the game that has the largest install base, would have received more than 1 update and 1 spinoff (Freecell) in that time....
Also, this is sarcasm. And I'd still rather see another movie than another game.

Bajah had this to say about Captain Planet:
I'm still confused as to how you're equivocating the purchase of a Microsoft Operating System as 'buying Solitaire.'
Dude, people only upgrade thier OS so they can play solitare. Didn't you know that?
Windows operating system sales would CRUMBLE without the continued release of solitaire!! [ 11-19-2001: Message edited by: Koska Kintaro ]
Why do you think MCSE's are called "Minesweeper Consultants, Solitare Experts"?
Does he have to make sense?
Oh, since I have yet to see it in this thread:
MICROSOFT IS THE GREAT SATAN AND NOONE SHOULD BUY THE XBOX SINCE THEY BLINDLY HATE MICROSOFT!!!
(switches off the sarcasm switch)
Halo is a DAMN nice game. I laugh at the people that dont buy an xbox simply "because they dont like Microsoft". Me and a Diablo 2 guildmate had a long discussion on this last night
Remember: Microsoft is NOT THE GREAT SATAN. Without them, PCs likely would not be where they are today. Halo IS a good game. Probably the best implementation of a controller for an FPS that ive EVER seen.
As for RPGs on the PS2: Remember, its only been out a year. We didnt see FF7 for the playstation till a couple years after its release -- we are getting FFX in Feb-ish.

Golden Sun is boring the piss out of me. I need to get out of this starting town, and soon. I get the feeling it'll pick up after that. I hope.
Its a pretty neat game, with a nice combat system.
OR pick up a PS1 rpg you dont own yet.

Actually, they would be, but we'd be bowing down before Xerox instead of Microsoft
That would actually be kinda cool. Xerox sounds much more like the name of an evil empire than does Microsoft [ 11-19-2001: Message edited by: Koska Kintaro ]
Douglas Adams, 1952-2001
Unless they slip that is....
And this month, Bladur's Gate: Dark Alliance is due out for PS2.
And coming out soon for PS2 is Xenosaga. (but no fixed release date yet )
See, RPGs ARE on their way, just been slow so hold on there.

Yeah. And we would all be worrying about if this piece of hardware works under one of ten different OS choices and with this game that only works on that OS but not all these others.
I like it like it is now, thanks

Unified platform = gud. Think about it, what if the PC platform began having the same problems as consoles have nowadays, producing games/software for multiple platforms. That would be teh sux.
Windows has always had it's ups and downs, and sadly, people tended to focus on the downs. Some might say that nVidia had an inferior product to 3dfx, but they almost singlehandedly drove them out of business and then bought them out. It happens, it's called business.

Actually, what would probably have happened is that the AOL crowd would go Mac and the r337 h@><012 crowd would go Linux.
