Then after gaining control of the world, I'll reveal my plans to a young man with spiked hair who forms a party and eventually destroys me.
Remember the most important part of being an evil villain, is revealing your plans to somebody who can stop you with a mysterious past that you happen to be involved in.
It took them FOUR MONTHS PAST THE ACTIVATION DATE to turn on my DSL service!!
They charge TWICE THE MONTHLY FEE for HALF THE BANDWIDTH OF OTHER PROVIDERS!!
These are the same guys who were proposing to charge for local calls.. Of course the FCC was havin none of that.

You know, that was the one thing I liked about the US... free local calls...
*looks at the telephone companies here that charge for EVERYTHING*
Charged local calls... Interstate calls... International calls..... just having a darn telephone attracts a $15 per month "rental" fee... even if you BUY your own phone (and that's in addition to the "Line Access cost")!!!
Granted SWBell tried to fuck me over for an ISDN line that was never installed properly and never worked. Never had a call made on it.
GTE fucks things up, but when you yell at them they fix it and typically give me free service while they're at it.

Random Insanity Generator stumbled drunkenly to the keyboard and typed:

I must say, that's an interesting scenario.

I waited on hold for - I kid you not - four hours the first time I called thier customer service department. I gave up after that.
Three days and ELEVEN HOURS ON HOLD later, I FINALLY got to talk to a man who did not speak English as a first language, and technically not as a second either.
He told me they were doing a "Line Check" and that my service would be activated in a week or so. Neither bit of information turned out to be true. [ 10-14-2001: Message edited by: Maradon? ]
Sprint is alright, but they only do digital, so areas without digital towers (or without enough digital towers) lose service.
Nextel is a nightmare. You can get disconnected from a call 10 seconds after dialing, while standing perfectly still. My father's company committed itself (and its employees) to a 1-year contract, and universally regretted it immediately.
VoiceStream doesn't have enough towers to support their customers, so it can be hard to get through.
MCI/WorldCom sends bills for services you never requested, and continues billing several months after you cancel your account. If you call their customer support, they say they don't have any record of you as a customer. If you call to find out why you're still getting billed, they insist you aren't. If you call any other company (after cancelling service with MCI), that company tells you that MCI refuses to release the cell phone. My father has a high-quality phone that he can't use because MCI won't release its lock on the serial number.
Then you'll probally want his name and extension and his supervisor.
Usually the third level person does speak english and can get something done after you verbally beat the living shit out of them. It helps to be really pissed off and cite previous problems with the company at large.
Of course, our electric & gas companies each send us 3 to 4 bills a month thanks to some dumbnuts county politician
