Time for another installment of the "THE" series of threads. This is THE martial art thread.

I shall soon be receiving a Kung Fu uniform and a floor bag of my very own. I must study supaa zenkai pawaa techniques.

What about YOU?

wing chun for the past 9 years, taught by my husband who is 34 and had studied since he was 6. It's one of the martial arts that Bruce Lee used to encourporate into jet kun do. And yes oh grammar nazi's I'm sorry my spelling is even worse today.
It's alot of fun, and Jet Li uses it alot in his movies, it's a woman's martial art primaraly and it's all close up in fighting.

alot of your martial arts require distance, men if you watch them generally fight far apart thus giveing them reach to pull the punches back really far.
Women generally when they fight stand very close right up on the person they are beating up.
Thus wing chun is really more of a woman's art although anyone can learn it. It's about block and attack at the same time and the kicks aren't that high but are very effective.
Hope this helps.

taijitsu is close to that in the fact that you arestay right ontop of your oponent in most of the forms. but the main difference is in taijitsu is that you stay low to the ground (for stealth and it gives you more power when attacking)

Mostly Tae Kwon Do and Karate though I've done sporadic training in lots of other forms, like Penjak Silat, Capeoria(hope I spelled that right), Kenpo, Kung-Fu dragon and tiger styles, Jiu-Jitsu/Judo, Ninjitsu, various self-defense and anti-assailant type moves, and weapons training in just about all forms of hand to hand weaponry:staves, clubs, maces, flails, knives, swords, tonfas, very limited throwing stars/knives(I really want to learn this). Basically I'm a Tae Kwon Do kind of guy, still compete in it, though I mix in moves learned from other styles to throw guys off, cause it's dangerous to get set in one style, because others can exploit it's weaknesses, and you do not want to have all of the strategies you know countered, best to be original.
