This thread was inspired by the Sara Lee Strawberry Shortcake I just got out of the vending machine here at work. It's nothing more than whipped cream on top of the strawberry stuff, with the biscuit stuff on the bottom.

It tastes good.

So, know any other things that provide maximum pleasure for minimum complexity? They don't have to be food or even objects...

Sitting out on the veranda watching trees bend and listening to them whisper on a windy day. I dunno, something soothing about just sitting there letting life flow past ya.
The trouble is that we have a bad habit, encouraged by pedants and sophisticates, of considering happiness as something rather stupid. Only pain is intellectual, only evil interesting. Doggies.

No! They don't give pleasure in that way, you phr34ks!

Doggies can always sense when you're feeling down and do their best to cheer you up and make you happy again.

Besides, what is more simple than a doggie?

Sitting curled up with a blanket on my bed watching one of those fierce thunderstorms. You know, the kind that seem to shake the very world.

Also, I love sitting on a bunch of cushions piled up against the hearth with a roaring fire right behind me. Until it becomes too warm and I have to move my entire bloody nest partway out into the room, which of course THEN feels like an icebox after the warmth of the fire.

Walking on the tidal flats at sunset, seeing entire beams of near-blinding sunlight painted and reflected across the ground for as far as you can see from the pools left when the water went out, while 4-year olds in swimsuits covered in wet sand cast ten-foot-long shadows while they dig for clams with little plastic shovels and buckets.

Someone telling you they love you (which i really need right now, oy).

Curling up in a blanketball with a book by your favorite author.

Chocolate mint tartufo.

Just saying "fuck responsibility" and playing on your Playstation for three hours.

Putting on some good music and yelling it at the walls. I suggest Tool's "The Patient", "Life" by Our Lady Peace, "Beleive Me" by Moist or any other myriad of good, yellable songs.

Anything creative. Write. Draw. Grab a Shakespeare book and act stuff from Hamlet. DOsen't matter if you suck or not. It's fun.

A hug. That's not forced. Hugging your mom dosen't count, unless you're crying or something.

Teddy bears. *snuggles her teddy bear*

Shhh. Everyone will hear us. Everyone will know.

Spending a lazy day curled up in a hammock with a good book, a welsh corgi, a package of twizzlers and a six pack of Diet Pepsi.

The simple things in life for me?
Snuggling up on my chair, with a pillow under my bum and a Diet Dr Pepper or Fruit2o at my side, settling in for a good night's worth of roleplaying with Rhiannah, Falaanla, Espio, Elethi, or Katjya. That, my friend, is my favorite simple thing in life

I liked putting winamp on repeat, and just falling asleep to the tunes..

Better yet, going thro your computer, picking out every mp3 and whatnot you can find, and playing it.. That was fun.

Lava Lamps.. I'm thinkin of gettin another one. They rock!

Talking with a good friend you havent seen/heard from in ages.. Thats good too.

I like driving in the rain, too.

What is it about thunderstorms? Cuddling in the dark, the smell of rain on the grass, the sound of the torent as it plays upon your roof...

I'm probably going to the only one saying this... but...

Junkies fighting.

Nothing puts a smile on my face more than 2 potheads going at each other without having a clear enough mind to punch straight.

That's probably not simple enough.

Oh I LOVE thunderstorms!

I'm the nutcase who is out looking for the funnel clouds when the sirens go off.

Someday I'd love to go on one of those fantasy vacations where they let you be a storm chaser.

Mornings when the alarm goes off, and the cat comes in and snuggles trying to get you to go back to sleep and not go to work.

It helps if the cat doesn't realize that it's Saturday.
