Triple attack for monks...more damage with 2handed weapons...wow. Granted I will try to not get my hopes up that much, but I really like the sound of it
If they go through with this:
YAY!
*unstoppable*
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Quizamo seems to dream too much.....
i'm truely shocked.
Bards are indeed intended to have the least ability to deal damage physically of all the classes we're discussing. However, with their lack of double attack they didn't meet even our intentions for their damage output. We will, therefore, be raising the offense and one-handed weapon caps for bards over 50th level to match that of warriors. This should place their ability to do damage by means of melee within our intended range without making them more effective than the knights at any given level, since double attack is a potent melee skill that bards do not get.
i like it

RangersWe've also noticed that rangers, while intended to be hit harder in combat than other melee/hybrid classes, are getting hit harder than we planned. Again, this only happens in the 50+ level range. So we will be increasing the defense cap for rangers again slightly to 210 at 60th level. Exactly how these points will be distributed is uncertain, but probably just one point per level after 50. We will also be giving rangers triple attack.
MWAH!!!!!
Burn in Hades, you COTH whores. Yeah, that's right. THATS ALL YOU CAN DO!

This might actually mean that the old max bard damage 'rule' of MaxDamage = CurrentLevel might actually go away!

SLOW?! Your average level 60 monk punches 4 times every 1.6 seconds. Yes, I'm assuming with epic. Show me a level 60 monk without it who's still trying for it.
Now they'll be punching SIX times, for what, 45 or so damage? Thats just fucking overpowerered vs Magic damage ability.
Wizards just lost the ability to outnuke a Monk in a short timeframe, which is the only way they could before this.

I'm bitching, because, for once, everything seemed sort of balanced. Shit like this just shows no sort of thought about other people and classes.
I'm interested to see what Verant will do once the entire Wizard community catches wind of this.

Did I ever say that? Hell no. I said this melee upgrade is the spawn of stupidity.
And yes, Cadga, say goodbye to rogue supremacy.

45 with fists maybe, personally I have 1 primal 1hb and 1 priceless 1hb, I hit for 80-90 every hit (more when avatar procs).
If this makes it live I'll be interested to see how much more dmg I output.

I dont see a problem with the class dmg order, only that the gap between warriors and bards was HUGE. And it sounds like with the 2 handed and bard changes, the gap will be made smaller, which is what should be done.
Bards should still do the least dmg of the melee classes since they have many other things at their disposal..but the amount of dmg they are currently doing is a joke, it needs to be raised
quote:We have not been 'beaten by the nerf stick the most.' To get beaten requires attention. If anything, the 'nerfs' to the bard class in the past 9 months have only be side-effect nerfs of changes to other classes - the biggest one that comes to mind is charm clearing the hate list, making it much more difficult for soloing bards to charm kite. And (amazingly some might say), Verant acknowledged this, and increased our charm time.

Quite a few other classes have gotten it worse then bards, if anything, major changes in the past 9 months have put us ahead: the increase of our defense and dodge skills post 50 to match warriors, the removal of the hybrid exp penalty, the increase in charm times, and now the proposed increase in our offensive and weapon skills post 50 to match warriors. The only nerf that comes to my mind is the charm-memblur change, which, if played with right, can be used to your advantage rather then disadvantage.

As I recall, one of the higher ups in Verant's EQ team said that they are bringing new caster items in with SoL. Stuff that makes a caster more powerful (and not just raises INT/Mana). This is to make up for the fact that weapon classes can keep finding better and better weapons to make them more and more powerful, but spells stay the same.
I suspect that the melee changes are to go hand in hand with these new items for the spellcasters, to bring everyone up to speed.

Really this isnt a blow to wizards, Velious itself was the real blow to wizards, it made most of their spells (aside from lures) resist, and turned them into taxi's (even moreso) [ 09-19-2001: Message edited by: Reynar ]
