granted it may have some things similar to eq but thats just so people can adapt faster! there are many things different and unique about it!

Well here's a question:

Can a game using a 3D engine not be like either Ultima Online, EverQuest, or something inbetween?

Dark Age of Camelot is a blend of the two above mentioned games. Personally, I'm giving it a try because it looks innovative.

Wyndrunner has a point. I bet mostly every MMORPG coming out within the next year(s), will be called an EQ-clone, the EQ-killer, or something like that. Such specualtions as that are worthless, as no one can tell the future. EQ has a great grip on the MMORPG Market, and it will be hard to shake it loose... It will however, go down. In fact, if SoL fails, it might be the end of EQ.

in a way wynd has a piont, all gen 2( or 3 dont rember) mmorpg's are gonna be the same, that is why they gota hury up with gen 3(or 4 however your counting it) becouse how difrent they are, i doubt their gonna suceed inless their truly inovative

it isn't EQ really its not, its not a rip of Tolkien's ideas for the most part that isn't. The elves are about all i've seen. Since Trolls are not the trolls we all know and love, the magic system is not like EQ. The currency system is somewhat like EQ with copper, gold, plat, but then their a is mythril coinage. 100 copper = 1 gold and so on for the others so it is rather hard to get 1 mythril. Also the trade system is a bit different though similar. The quest system consists of both Fedex quest (go here and drop this off) and Killing quests or a combo of both (kill a and give X to b) plus the RvR is amazing, and soon with the implement of siege craft (ahah we took over your frontier fort ahahah) it will be quiet different then EQ. So when it all comes down to it. DAoC is similar to EQ but does not follow EQ's downfalls. So its a better game over all. Oh yah you can't loose levels when you die if you've just leveled. Can't loose levels at all!

i am going to play DAOC. i want to see to see this game. what it offers, while i wait for SB to come out. then its off to SB i go, till i get bored of it, or FFXI comes out

I am not debating wether daoc is better than e, im pretty sure it is, im just saying taht to maek poepel leave their char that they have spend days on for a game thats just slightly better.

oh i was just telling the people about that game it self heh, *shrugs* i dunno EQ can get rather boring after you've visited every place and hunted every mob and some people just need a change of pace
