Somebody posted a link to Freakangels on here a while ago, which I devoured over the course of a weekend, and now anxiously await new installments each friday.

I stumbled upon the Girl Genius series while looking for 'tween-age comics for older girls in my after-school program; and am about halfway through that series. (It's really fucking long, and somehow pretty good.)

Anyone know other preferably long online comic series with a plot and characters? Not in the vein of Questionable Content, since every panel seems to include a punchline. Not saying it's bad by any means, just not what I'm after.

Schlock Mercenary.

It's a daily updated "space opera", and as far as I know, the guy doing it hasn't missed a single daily update since he started in 2000.

Try to read that in a weekend.

Better Days if you want to "get" most of the furry jokes that /b/ puts out.

Quite lol-worthy. Oh, and incest.

Schlock is pretty great.

I've also started reading through Digger and it's been great so far.

Freefall is one of my favorites. (Don't be put off by the anthropomorphic main character; this is not a furry comic.)

You can check through the comics here; a number of them have ongoing stories. Phoenix Requiem was consistently in the top five until it ended recently. Overall the list is a mixed bag, but just skip the ones that don't appeal to you. If you sign up, you can build a favorites list to keep track of the ones you're reading.

Erfworld and Order of the Stick are great if you like tabletop gaming (D&D, Warhammer, etc)

There's Dr McNinja for a mix of storytelling and humor, it's more comic-book style in that each issue addresses one story arc but it has continuity.

Boxer Hockey isn't too bad either.

The others that I read regularly are Freefall (Mentioned earlier), Freakangels (I was the one who pointed you to that, bitch), Schlock Mercenary, Sluggy Freelance, Gunnerkrigg court, and Girl Genius.

I keep trying to get into MSPA but I stall out early. I dunno.

Homestuck (MSPA) takes a bit to get going. The first chapter is boring (though several things that happen in it are important later). Things pick up in Chapter 2.

That one amuses me for the small things. Like black people being hyenas!

LFG Comic is pretty decent if you're into online gaming; loosely WoW-based but carrying tropes from a variety of similar sources.

I was gonna suggest Platinum Grit, but apparently it doesn't exist anymore.

WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME

Anyway, I guess if I want to read a comic with cool art that only updates once every three years, I could always go back to Outsider.
Seriously, the comic started like 10 years ago and it's only up to page 83. Jeez.

Finally, there's a comic I've plugged before: Spinnerette. It's an affectionate parody of superhero comics done in a manga-esque style. You probably shouldn't read it at work; it's not pornographic by any means, but it is rather cheesecakey.

Also finally, I second the motion of Order of the Stick. Pretty much one of the best comics on the internet despite its erratic updates.

Oh! I forgot one. Great is a comic by the guy who did minus, which was pretty much the best webcomic ever. Great is a comedy following the life of Lyle Phipps, a man who struggles to realize his inherent greatness that he doesn't actually have.

Yay for GG! They just released a novel based on the first storyline, too.
