Webspace providers offering ridiculous high caps on their plans, knowing that most people drawn by these won't actually come close to them. The few that do are neglectible compared to the profits they get from those that don't meet the caps.

It isn't a bad deal for people just hosting occasional shit for friends, because they don't need good customer service, 24/7 uptime, or constant speeds. Anyone that actually needs decent service should be smart enough to go with a proper host to suit their needs.
