Okay stop with the locking threads, it's piss ass annoying. Personally it's a decent feature I'd rather keep for good reasons. Deth already made the first abuse of it (Sorry, but that was exactly the reason people bitched about the feature in the first place.) Second you guys are screwing around with it even further.

The feature has good applications, I'd rather not see it removed. Stop it.

Don't really care. It needed to be said, it can be said. I'd rather not see the feature removed because people got a jimmy jumping on the bandwagon.

Yeah, I know.. This is directed specifically and the people who bandwagoned it.

Deth who did exactly what everyone bitched about being done with it in the first place. D, Bajah and Naimah.

Note, they are all friends, but they are still being dumb. And it was meant as a deterent before anyone else started jumping on too.

Those two are what the feature is for. Locking before, or after, the thread turns south.

After that, the bandwagon thread locks were lame.

And the fact that he asked her a direct question in the first paragraph, to which she merely replied that she'd rather discuss it in PMs.

I don't see where she caused a problem for you to spout 'you could have left it well alone' because that line right there makes you sound like you had every right to be in the thread and she didn't.

And I know better then to explain my beliefs out on the open board, so he locked it and we took it to PMs. End of story.

If a user locks a thread due to the possiblity of it getting out of control, treat it as though a mod locked the thread. Basically, a clue to chill out and go play with happy bunnies.

DO NOT attempt "Last Word" threads or "bandwagon locks". Why? Because they will fuel more of them and/or posts like this. I.E. More flames.

The Government does not like Flames, they make The Government sad. So please, next time you think about doing something like that, think of The Government.... Or Else!

Actually that's not the first abuse of it. People have done threads like that before, or closed perfectly good and flame-free threads just because they didn't like the things that were being discussed. So I will disagree with you that Deth was the first abuse.

I will agree, however, that if he did close that thread himself then he shouldn't have. I think he's sleeping now, but when he gets online I'm going to ask him if he was him or if it was possibly a moderator. And I've suggested he reopen it if he did close it.

So I agree there. But Deth isn't the first ever to do something like that.

We wern't defacing her character merely discussing off of a tangent that begun because of a previous conversation. No one has a right to be in any thread any more then another, this is a public forum and sometimes threads that may rub you the wrong way will come. You should turn a blind eye to things that don't directly deface you. Public discussion is the lifeblood of this group. Don't staunch it, please.

If he wanted to ask me questions, he could have (and ultimetly did) use the PMs. That's what they are for. And had I started answering them out in the open, there would have been a huge flame fest and either he or a mod would have locked it anyways.

Now, if you want to continue this, PM me.

Wrong, you don't know that there would have been a flame fest. If you had no intentions of answering it in public then you could have very well carried on the correspondence in private, at the same time allowing the public discussion to continue.

If you only want to use PMs what is the point of not just using E-Mail? It would take a whole lot less overhead.

You say public discussion is something that shouldn't be staunch it. You say it's a public forum and yet you say she should have left the thread alone? You weren't directly defaced in the thread - why did you go posting in there? You should have left it alone.

You, sir, are being a hypocrit.

And nowhere did she respond to the thread saying she was feeling defaced. THE THREAD WAS DIRECTED SOLELY AT HER. You can ask Old Hickory yourself if you don't believe that. Hence why she requested being approached through PMs.

Politics and Religion will always have vastly different beliefs and cause arguments, so private discussions between people will always win out there... public debates on those subjects ALWAYS eventually go south.

Incorrect. YOU made this public and did not ask to be approached through PMs, as she did. If you wish to make it private and away from the public eye, just say so.

Old Hickory isn't a big forums user and once he was made aware that it should be in PMs, guess what he did? That's right, he took it to PMs.
