try my suggestion of playing in a window first i always prefered playing that way anyways.. and by the sounds of things it should fix it.

Its most likely just software corruption, one workaround you could try is playing in a window rather than full screen, if you dont want to do that id just re-install the game. make sure you delete c:\...
