Cool!

Now Black joins the club with Delphi and Blindy and others who start threads to grandstand and flame others, then lock them cravenly when they don't get universal agreement.

Go you.

I was going to say it, but okay.

It's hard to stand up for what you believe in when you run and lock threads like a coward.

You know, I'm not even going to reply to this thread after this.

This is easily the stupidest and most petty thing I've seen in months.

I don't care if you disagree. I posted my opinion, and said what I wanted. I locked the thread fully knowing that I would catch more hate and bad opinions from it. I made the entire thread fully knowing that.

I do like how you assume I was trying to be cool. I don't have to be cool to people like you. In fact, you're probably one of the last people I want to be viewed as "cool" by.

Whine and rant all you want, I simply don't care.

Edit - AND OBVIOUSLY, locking the thread did a whole lot, didn't it? I mean, people stopped repling to me and OH WAIT NO IT DIDN'T HOW FOOLISH OF ME. You guys win yet again. Caught me red handed.

While it has a few uses, thread locking is still the worst fucking feature ever.

I'd rather my DVD-ROM spit out its tray and hit me in the Mean Bean Machine than have to put up with thread locking.

Yeah, they did. You obviously locked the thread because you wanted people to stop replying. Why else would you?

Uhhh... maybe it's something that I'm missing here, but isn't making a new thread in response to a locked thread against the rules? Or did that only apply to mod-locked threads?

*Goes to look at the rules again.*

Only to mod locking. Besides, special rules apply to Flame threads.

SO that you know, since your opinion of me has dropped, Black, that my problem with him is this:

EVen in arguements and threqads where he knows nothing, he claims to know everything - and he does admit he's wrong, right? Yay for admitting you are wrong! But.. then... he uses the same arguments that had been disproved.

And then he gets pissed when people keep repeating their refutations; even though he keeps seeing them, they are flawless, but they don't match his thinking, so they must be invisible.

Bonus, his typing and grammar are atrocious. I know I'm not all that great, but at least I try. I use my backspace button, and I at least capitalize my letters.

I have to agree with Sage. Normally I'm the sort who talks about acceptance and trying to be polite. But Somthor has come in with the wrong attitude from the start.

I don't think like Parce, that new people should bow down and kiss the feet of those who've been here. But then again, I've seen him mouth off to regulars quite often since he got here, and usually because someone was refuting his point, and not always in a nasty manner.

For instance, the way he put his preference for the word "dude" used in reference to him. He could have phrased it politely, asking that Sage and others would not address him as "dude". Instead he informed Sage that it wasn't to be part of his vocabulary when addressing him. I've seen other instances where he thinks he can basically boss the regulars around, too.

Sorry, that's an attitude even *I* can't support.

Eh...Black, I think the world of you, but I would have had to side with the congregation on this one. Somthor came to the boards flaming over something that happened in EQ, when we've got HOW many old hands at the game here? He then goes on to be arrogant, obnoxious, and rude. And not in the acceptable manners most people around EC partake of.

It could be argued that Bloodsage, at times, is arrogant, obnoxious, and rude. On the other hand, he's arrogant when he knows his shit (and usually doesn't make a flame otherwise, unless it's on an esoteric topic), obnoxious when he won't let go of something (again, I can't think of a time when either Sage wasn't an expert in the field, or wasn't arguing on behalf of what he saw to be a common sense point on an esoteric topic), and rude (he IS known as being one of the Grand High Poobah flame warriors around these parts; you don't get that way by passing tea and crumpets).

On the other hand, Sage paid his dues (which has little to nothing in common with paying subscription fees) and built up his credibility. Somthor, on the other hand, came out swinging, swaggering, trash-talking...and rather than backing down on the esoteric matter of how much flag waving he should do about being one of the EQ toons who took out the Sleeper on the Bumfuck Server, he went on to start OTHER threads, where, when people disagreed with his opinions (he is neither a legal expert nor an expert on military munitions and explosives), he proceded to start a half-assed campaign to outdo people who did and do in fact know more. He could have avoided this sort of thing if he'd had the common sense to get to know the board populace before jumping in with both feet and insulting peoples' intelligence.

As for Parcelan's commentary on his atrocious online grammatical skills, I have to say that once again if he had stuck around here on the DL for a while before sticking his foot in again, he would have realized that we have a certain standard of things, Mog and Kagrama not withstanding. People here type coherently, intelligently. I have to say that while not the end of the world, I found (and continue to find) extensive grammatical and spelling errors, especially when the person plain doesn't care, to be aggravating. Even Mog and Kagrama, when they have something serious to say, generally clean up their typing. Again, something he would have learned if he had taken some time to learn about what he was getting into before he swaggered in and started opening fire.

Do I think he needs to kiss the bootay of all of us? Of COURSE not, but I do think he needs to have a certain amount of respect for those of us who've been here a good long while. I think he made the cardinal newbie error, and made it worse than most newbs who come to the forums...he didn't look before he leaped. And he kept on leaping.

That having been said, I don't think that Black committed a heinous sin against humanity by locking his thread. It's not like he did what I did; fire off one post, then lock the thread. The thread, from what I can see, got up to two pages before he locked it.

That, too, is pretty retarded. Around here, we just call people by their names. If we use nicknames, there are far worse than "dude."
